Herzenssache

    Hey

Sorry in advance for the long post as it might become a bit of a drag (hopefully not) but in case it does, my apologies in advance!
So here is a link, first of all, to what Melanie did for me! Thanks a ton Mel! :))

And How did I feel about it??
If I have to be downright honest, I would say that I was super duper impressed by it, as she made all the cards and the envelopes overnight and in breathtakingly amazing quality which certainly superseded my expectations! You see that I had looked around for such cards in malls and different stores in Dusseldorf already for the last couple of days, but couldn’t find anything remotely close to my requirements/expectations.

So, the story begins as I and Mel are causally having lunch one day and I mention my gift idea to her (we work for the same company, by the way) as I knew that she does something “artsy” for her side business, and as a person is quite passionate about art!
I express to her that I shall be visiting my girlfriend in the next days and I would like to make a very personalized gift for her for the sake of two things:

    1. Primarily to make her feel special and to see her smile, and maybe even tear up a bit 🙂 and
    2. To have her understand a bit of the German culture (she is based in Dubai currently) and had no clue about what an adventskalendar is…

So I tell her that I have already found a nice Adventskalendar from Douglas (the store obviously! haha) which has little cute fragrances /make-up trial bottles in each of the numbered boxes but I feel that I need to personalize it. My idea is to have a little letter encased in an envelope about the size of a quarter of an A4 sheet, and I would like to write messages connected with the corresponding number of the day on the backside of the letters. For example: Number 1 aka the first day she opens the little card and it says “You are not just my number 1, but my one and only one” and for the second day “Let the 2 of us make a life full of pleasant surprises, laughter, pranks, joy and amazing memories together”…you get the idea I guess! Oh and by the way, it was an amazing idea as my girlfriend’s (now fiance’s :)) birthday happens to be on the 24th, so it all added up amazingly well, you know 😀

Also, as hinted above, this gift was a preclude to me proposing her for marriage and I really wanted to make it shine and stand out, and boy, didn’t Mel deliver some of her amazing work in the tightest of deadlines!! She really did! 🙂

Oh and my girlfriend/fiance’s’s reactions were totally out of the world! She really looooovvvedd the creativity, the concept and the dedication and how my feelings for her shone through day after day, so another valuable happiness/reward for Mel in helping a couple come together right!

Now, bringing the focus back to her work then: She really cares about what people decide to gift and wants to know in reasonable detail what the occasion is and what the motivation is. So she really creates the work as if you yourself would make it! I would totally recommend her work ethic and her craftsmanship! Oh and not to forget that I was only quoted an unbelievably cheap amount that I really couldn’t believe if this was real. For the quality work she does, I genuinely feel that she could ask a lot more.

So that’s my story and I hope that it wasn’t too long or boring…Good luck for your next art projects Mel and everyone!! 🙂

    Cheers
    Vi
